Dear Campus Colleagues,
I'm writing to share an update about the New York Loft, which has now transitioned under the Division of Academic Affairs. I want to be very clear from the outset: there are absolutely no plans to sell the New York Loft. It remains a valued asset to our university.
Comprehensive review of the loft
My leadership team and I are dedicating the fall semester to a comprehensive review of the loft. Our goal is to explore how we can maximize its potential and enhance its value for our entire university community, focusing on year-round use, maintenance, and updated policies.
This review will be a collaborative process, and we are eager to hear from you. We'll be actively engaging with faculty, staff, students and alumni who have visited the loft in the past, as well as those who have not had the opportunity to stay at the loft, to gather your ideas and suggestions. Your input will be vital in shaping the loft's future.
Prioritizing academic student trips this fall
To facilitate this thorough review, we will be prioritizing academic student trips for reservations this fall. This focused approach will allow us to assess usage patterns and identify new opportunities more effectively.
We will continue to have a faculty loft director on-site this fall to support academic student trips.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we prepare the New York Loft for its next chapter, ensuring it continues to serve our academic mission for years to come.
