Dear Campus Colleagues,
This past Saturday, Oct. 24, we held Fall 2026 Open House at the Hickory campus. Nearly 100 prospective students and families engaged with faculty, staff and students and learned why App State Hickory is a great place to launch their future.
I want to extend my gratitude to the dedicated teams who made the day a success:
- App State Hickory staff for coordinating building logistics.
- Enrollment Management and University Communications for event planning and promotion.
- Facilities Operations for keeping our facilities clean and welcoming.
- Academic Affairs for opening our academic spaces and showcasing our degree pathways, especially the department chairs, program directors, faculty and advisors who were able to attend and engage with attendees.
- Student Affairs for providing prospective students with an authentic look at the Hickory campus and App State resources.
And, thank you to everyone who:
- Assisted with event preparations
- Welcomed and engaged with prospective students, families and friends
- Led tours and facilitated information sessions
- Shared how App State Hickory students receive innovative instruction and student-centered support
Feedback is being collected, and attendees shared these comments about their App State Hickory visit:
Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Everyone was kind, and the environment was welcoming.
I really liked being able to see the campus and the places where I would be able to attend class.
Reading these comments serves as a reminder that our greatest asset is our people. It takes all of us to build an environment where students thrive and succeed. Saturday wasn't just an event — it was a testament to what we can accomplish as a team. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
Sincerely,
Neva J. Specht
