Dear Campus Colleagues,
This past Saturday, Oct. 17, we held Fall 2026 Open House at the Boone campus. It was a lovely autumn day with incredible energy across campus — more than 2,000 prospective students and families engaged with many of you as they learned why they should choose App State.
I want to extend my gratitude to the dedicated teams who made the day such a resounding success:
- Enrollment Management for leading the planning and execution of the event and coordinating hundreds of volunteers across campus;
- University Communications for producing marketing and presentation materials and assisting with event promotion;
- Facilities Operations for keeping our campus grounds and facilities beautiful, clean and welcoming;
- Academic Affairs for opening our academic spaces to visitors and hosting information tables about our robust degree programs; and
- Student Affairs for highlighting the vibrant student experience and giving prospective students an authentic look at campus life.
And, a sincere thank you to all faculty, staff and student volunteers who:
- Assisted in planning and preparing for the event
- Created a warm, welcoming and engaging experience for all attendees
- Staffed tables and facilitated sessions
- Talked with prospective students, families and friends
- Led tours and pointed visitors in the right direction
- Shared how App State supports students and creates pathways for success
Here are a few comments from attendees reflecting on their favorite part of Open House:
I loved the welcoming vibe overall. It was clear to me, time and again, that App State prioritizes its students, and that’s incredibly important to me. Thank you for having me!
The number of staff and students who were available throughout campus, and how each took time to answer questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. This event was extremely well organized. We were very impressed. It was as if each faculty member and student were so happy to be at App State.
The truly friendly and naturally warm environment. Your staff and students were attentive and very helpful. We felt like we got an excellent feel for the culture of the school.
Just being on campus. I’m home.
Reading these comments serves as a reminder: It takes all of us! It takes every single member of our campus community to recruit and retain our students, and Saturday’s event was a true team effort. Thank you for your dedication!
Sincerely,
Neva J. Specht
