App State continues to strengthen our commitment to student success by streamlining processes and enhancing access to valuable campus resources. Whether students need academic guidance, wellness support or navigating personal challenges, our student referral process is designed to help connect them with the most appropriate campus partners.
- The university offers a full range of campus resources designed to help students with academics, advising, financial, personal wellness and other services on our Boone and Hickory campuses.
- We encourage you to review this list of resources periodically and share it with your classes or individual students as needed.
Be a student advocate
If you would like to advocate for a student who is navigating academic and/or personal obstacles, review the Quick Referral Guide for Faculty and Staff on the Student Referral Process page, which outlines a simple process to submit a referral form for the appropriate resource.
- The staff who manage the two referral pathways, Academic Referral and Care and Concern Referral, communicate regularly and work collaboratively. Only one submission is needed to capture your referral.
- Student Referral Workshops — designed to build confidence and clarity when making referrals — are available for faculty and staff.
Not sure if you should refer a student?
Your referral lets the student know we are focused on their well-being and committed to helping them overcome obstacles.
Before referring a student, we encourage you to engage and speak with them about your concerns and why. It demonstrates care and commitment to their success.
