sent on behalf of Dr. Mark Ginn, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education
Greetings all,
App State’s University College has undergone changes to its organizational structure, which better position the college’s units to optimize the student experience at App State — with a focus on ensuring student success and a high-quality educational experience.
With the departure of Dr. Greg Lester, Executive Director of Advising and Student Success, his position has been reconfigured as an Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success. In addition to providing leadership for campus-wide Student Success initiatives, this position will have the following direct reports:
The Student Learning Center will report to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success.
The Office of Student Success will be moving, both physically and organizationally, to the Student Learning Center.
The University Writing Center and the Office of Testing Services will report to the Executive Director of the Student Learning Center.
The ACCESS program, the TRIO SSS program, and the As-U-R program will all report to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success.
The Director of Auxiliary Services for the Student Learning Center, will have a title change to Director of Student Success Data Systems and will report to the AVP for Student Success.
A national search for the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success will begin in the next few weeks, with a goal of having the position filled by the beginning of the spring semester. Nikki Crees has agreed to serve in the role on an interim basis this fall.
Dr. Ted Zerucha, formerly Director Of General Education, will have his role expanded to Assistant Vice Provost for General and Experiential Education and will have responsibility for the following units:
The Career Development Center is moving from Student Affairs to Academic Affairs and will report to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. It will remain in the same location in the Plemmons Student Union and a search for a new Director of Career Development will begin later this fall. Jennifer Shaffer will continue to serve as the Interim Director at this time.
Orientation will be moving from Academic Affairs to Student Affairs and will report to Assistant Vice Chancellor Jeff Cathey.
Brian MacHarg and Academic Civic Engagement are moving to the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Student Success.
Thanks and feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Mark
