Tools for Success: Student Referrals and Navigate360

Sent on behalf of Dr. Shernita Lee, Associate Vice Provost for Student Success, and Judy Haas, Dean of Students

Dear Mountaineer,

We hope your semester is off to a great start! Choosing to pursue a degree is a powerful investment in your future, and we’re proud you’ve chosen App State to be part of that journey.

To help you stay on track, we want to make sure you know about the tools and support systems available to you — including the Student Referral Process and Navigate360.

Student referral process

Our student referral process allows faculty and staff to submit a referral on behalf of a student experiencing academic or personal challenges. This process helps us connect you with the right resources at the right time.

Based on the information provided, we will determine how best to offer support. Our actions will fall into one of three levels:

  • Level 1 — Resources: We will notify you that a referral has been submitted and provide resources to help you stay on track and meet your goals.
  • Level 2 — Student Success Coaching: We will notify you that a referral has been submitted and invite you to attend a student success coaching appointment. During this meeting, you will develop an individualized success plan for the semester and learn strategies to thrive both academically and personally.
  • Level 3 — Care and Concern Beyond Academics: Student Success staff will forward the referral to the Dean of Students' Case Management team, who will reach out via email or text. In situations involving harm to yourself or others, other campus safety partners may be involved.

If a referral is submitted on your behalf, we'll reach out promptly to guide you through next steps. Referrals are about building a path forward, and our goal is to help you reach your full potential.

Navigate360: Centralized support for student success

We are excited to introduce Navigate360, a centralized platform to support student success at App State — available as a free mobile app or desktop version.

Students can use Navigate360 to:

  • Stay updated by turning on notifications for reminders and messages.
  • Review personalized task lists, deadlines and reminders.
  • Schedule appointments with academic advisors (where applicable) and student support team members.
  • Get matched with individualized support via the Help feature.

Note: Academic advising appointments in Navigate360 are currently available to Beaver College of Health Sciences, Hayes School of Music, Honors College and Reich College of Education students. Starting spring 2027, all academic advising areas will use Navigate360.
