Heather Langdon has agreed to serve as Interim Director of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning (IRAP). Heather has worked in IRAP at Appalachian State University since 1992, serving in a variety of capacities, most recently as Senior Associate Director. While in IRAP, Heather has assisted with strategic planning, coordinated assessment activities, conducted numerous research studies, and led reporting efforts. Heather has presented professionally on topics of institutional assessment and student success research. She recently served as the President of the North Carolina Association for Institutional Research. Heather began her duties as Interim Director on July 1.
The Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning has appointed an Interim Associate Director of Institutional Research. Rick Sears comes from the University of Arizona, where he has worked since 2001 as a researcher and analyst in the areas of enrollment management and institutional research. He most recently served as Associate Director for Enrollment Research within the University of Arizona Office of University Analytics and Institutional Research. Rick has also contributed to the profession, serving as President of the Arizona Association of Institutional Research from 2012-2015. Prior to his work with the University of Arizona, Rick was a research analyst for the Community College of Philadelphia of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Peterson's in Princeton, New Jersey. Rick will begin his duties at Appalachian on August 24.
