Vice Provost for Resource Management
Dr. Timothy H. Burwell has served in this role since 2005. He is responsible for budget management, position management, and the Division of Educational Outreach and Summer Programs.
He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Wofford College and a master's degree in mathematical sciences and Ph.D. in management science from Clemson University.
Burwell came to Appalachian in 1986 as an assistant professor of decision sciences and was later promoted to associate professor in 1992. His career as an administrator began in 1994 with his appointment as assistant dean for instructional programs in Appalachian's Walker College of Business. In 1998, he was promoted to professor of information technology and operations management and assumed the title of associate dean of the college. He also served in his current position in an interim capacity from 2003-05.
