Music Performance (BM)

Shown here are the general learning goals of the program broken down into specific student learning outcomes (SLOs). These SLOs represent what a student should be able to do as a result of successfully completing this program. Student performance on these outcomes are routinely assessed by program faculty as a way of informing programmatic improvement efforts.

Goal Outcome

1. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of pedagogy.

  • 1.1 Students will demonstrate knowledge needed to teach tone production, technical skills and musical interpretation skills.
  • 1.2 Students will design a graded curriculum incorporating pedagogical materials (scales, methods, etudes, etc.) and performance repertoire from beginner through advanced.

2. Students will demonstrate skills in the major performing medium.

  • 2.1 Students will demonstrate advanced technical skills in the major performing medium.
  • 2.2 Students will demonstrate appropriate performance styles applied to compositions from a range of musical periods.
  • 2.3 Students will demonstrate interpretive skills in the major performing medium.
