Communication, Electronic Media/Broadcasting (BS)

Shown here are the general learning goals of the program broken down into specific student learning outcomes (SLOs). These SLOs represent what a student should be able to do as a result of successfully completing this program. Student performance on these outcomes are routinely assessed by program faculty as a way of informing programmatic improvement efforts.

Goal Outcome

1. Students will communicate effectively through a variety of writing styles

  • 1.1 Students will compose a broadcast-quality writing project.
  • 1.2 Students will write well written copy for broadcast.

2. Students will integrate various forms of media

  • 2.1 Students will demonstrate the ability to present themselves in a professional manner to a potential client.
  • 2.2 Students will identify and discuss current issues in electronic media regulation.
  • 2.3 In order to learn practical employment skills, students will prepare a professional job application letter and three broadcast-quality projects in the areas of audio, video and writing.
  • 2.4 Students will learn how to create broadcast‐quality audio and video projects that will air on campus electronic media.

3. Students will use technical equipment necessary for storytelling in electronic media

  • 3.1 Students will learn storytelling skills by edi􀆟ng audio and video projects.
  • 3.2 Students will demonstrate proficiency with audio and video equipment used in the Electronic Media/Broadcast profession.
  • 3.3 Students will demonstrate proficiency with audio equipment used in the profession.
