Art Education (K-12) (BFA)

Shown here are the general learning goals of the program broken down into specific student learning outcomes (SLOs). These SLOs represent what a student should be able to do as a result of successfully completing this program. Student performance on these outcomes are routinely assessed by program faculty as a way of informing programmatic improvement efforts.

Goal Outcome

1. University students will integrate current art skills, concepts and content into their preK-12 teaching practice

  • 1.1 Students will analyze, acquire and understand essential art content necessary for teaching.
  • 1.2 Students will demonstrate a high-level mastery of materials and methods in one or more media of the visual arts.
  • 1.3 Students will develop and apply lessons based on the North Carolina standard course of study.
  • 1.4 Students will identity, analyze, and negotiate contemporary visual problems.
  • 1.5 Students will integrate technology with instruction to maximize student learning.
  • 1.6 Students will relate global awareness to the subject.
