Theatre Arts (BA) - Performance

Shown here are the general learning goals of the program broken down into specific student learning outcomes (SLOs). These SLOs represent what a student should be able to do as a result of successfully completing this program. Student performance on these outcomes are routinely assessed by program faculty as a way of informing programmatic improvement efforts.

Goal Outcome

1. Analyzing text, performance and reception - Students demonstrate proficiency in analyzing theatre texts and performances and their reception by an audience

  • Students will analyze scripts and texts using methods suitable to purpose and audience
  • Students will evaluate how an individual or group's personal, historical, and cultural perspectives affect how they perceive and respond to creative products.
  • Students will interpret forms of creative expression within various historical and contemporary contexts and theoretical frameworks

2. Creating theatrical products - Students demonstrate an understanding of how theatrical products are created and a proficiency in planning and executing realized theatrical products.

  • Students will articulate rationales for choices made in creative processes
  • Students will conduct and apply research in creative processes
  • Students will use appropriate techniques and technologies in creative processes

3. Collaborating withing creative processes - Students demonstrate an understanding of the collaborative nature of theatre and a proficiency for collaborating with others on realized theatre products.

  • Students will communicate effectively with collaborators within creative processes using verbal and non-verbal communication tools.
  • Students will evaluate how personal and cultural perspectives affect collaborative processes
  • Students will solve problems in conjunction with collaborators within creative processes
